Your agent can price an item from a photo

A new MCP tool, price_from_capture, gives an agent the same pricing as the mobile app: send photos, a PDF, a link, a few words or a barcode and get a fair price, its range, and a listing or an offer message ready to send.

The API reference for pricing an item from photos, PDFs, links and text, which the new price_from_capture MCP tool calls, including photo and PDF links.

An agent that has a photo of something can now ask what it is worth, the same way a person does in the mobile app.

  • One call. price_from_capture takes what the agent has about one item: photos or screenshots, a PDF such as a receipt, a product page link, a description or a barcode, up to 12 in all. It returns the price, the low to high range, the item's brand, model and condition, any prices read off the photos, and what would make the price sharper.
  • Selling or buying. Set side. A seller gets a fair asking price, a quick sale and top of range, and a listing to post. A buyer gets an opening offer, the most to pay, and a message to the seller with the offer filled in. The value is the same either way.
  • A link to share. Each price comes with a link to a card showing it, ready to send to the person or post with the listing.
  • Your price. Send current_price and the answer says how it compares with the estimate. It is never used as the price.
  • Full size photos. A photo or PDF can be a link to the file, downloaded on our side. An agent with the photo on disk and a terminal can instead upload the file itself in one command and get the same answer. Either way file link allows up to 5 MB per file; a direct upload allows 4 MB in total.
  • Chat attachments. A chat app that passes attachment file references can send the photo straight to the tool. The tool advertises its file parameters for compatible hosts.
  • No guesses. When the photos do not show an item it can identify, the answer has no price and says what to add.
  • Packages. The LangChain, AI SDK and Agents SDK packages get the tool too, and the client gets priceFromCapture.
