Agents reach a price in two calls, with no key

The MCP server now opens with the one call that returns a price, lists the six tools that reach a price first (or alone, at ?profile=starter), and prices a declared cost with no key.

An agent that talks to the MCP server by hand used to get a list of 251 tools and could stop before it found compute_price. A seller agent with no key and only its own cost was refused.

  • initialize shows the compute_price call to send, written out as JSON-RPC.
  • tools/list puts pricing_conversation, compute_price, verify_price, report_outcome, list_functions and get_receipt first; /api/mcp/rpc?profile=starter lists only them.
  • With no key, compute_price with unit_cost prices with lastprice/cost-plus on the public demo, and so does POST /api/public/compute/demo with metadata.unit_cost.
  • llms.txt opens "Try it without an account" with the same call.
