An hourly budget for MCP calls without a key
MCP tool calls without a key share an hourly budget per address. Failed calls use it up six times faster than ones that work, and calls with a key are never counted.
The hosted MCP server answers agents without a key, so one noisy caller could slow it for everyone. Calls without a key now share an hourly budget per address.
- Each tool call uses one unit and a failed one uses six, so an agent stuck retrying a bad call runs out first.
- Past the budget the call answers 429 with when to try again and how to get a key.
- Calls with an API key are never counted.
