Shopify stores connect with a Dev Dashboard app and take price changes again

Connect a Shopify store with the client ID and secret of an app from Shopify's Dev Dashboard, and Last Price keeps its access token fresh for you. Price changes are written to Shopify again on its current API.

The API reference for creating a commerce connector account

Shopify stopped letting merchants create custom apps in the store admin at the start of 2026, and its new apps issue access tokens that last a day. Connecting a store used to need a permanent token, so new stores could not connect at all.

  • Client ID and secret: give a Shopify connector shop_domain, client_id and client_secret, and Last Price fetches a new token before the old one expires. A permanent access_token from an older custom app still works.
  • Price changes reach the store: approved prices were sent with a call that current Shopify versions no longer accept. They now use the call Shopify supports today.
  • Current API version: the connector moved to a supported Shopify API version, and an account can pin another one with metadata.api_version.
  • The documented example used the wrong field name for the store address. It now reads shop_domain.
