Function cost multipliers are saved and billed

A cost multiplier you set on a function is now kept, and built-in functions bill at their listed multipliers, from 1x to 5x. Until now every call was metered at 1x, whatever the function said.

The documentation's built-in functions table in dark mode, with each function's cost multiplier

Every compute call's metered cost is units times the function's cost per unit times its cost multiplier. The multiplier was never stored, so every call was metered at 1x.

  • A multiplier you set on your own function on the Functions page is saved and applied to its calls. It can be above 0 and up to 100.
  • Built-in functions bill at their listed multipliers, from 1x to 5x. Jale Advanced Recommendation is 5x; Rosetta Translate, Rosetta Ingest, Jale Bundle and Jale Tier Optimizer are 3x; Jale Price Optimizer, Rosetta Normalize, Rosetta Suggest and Elo Bandit Allocator are 2x; the rest stay 1x.
  • The documentation's built-in table now reads from the same list the router uses. It used to show lower multipliers for Rosetta Translate, Rosetta Normalize, Jale Bundle and Jale Tier Optimizer.
  • The cheapest routing strategy now compares cost per unit times the multiplier, the rate a call is billed at, so it no longer picks a 5x function when a 1x one can answer.
  • The public catalog and the API now show each function's multiplier, so you can see a listed function's full price before you call it.
  • Paid calls without a key (x402) still cost a flat $0.01, and a call whose metered cost comes out higher is refused without charging. On 3x and 5x functions that now happens with smaller requests.
