Outcome pricing pays back prices you did not use

Turn on outcome pricing and every compute call paid from your prepaid balance opens a 7-day window. Report the price as rejected in that window and 70% of it goes back to your balance.

You now pay full price only for prices you actually use.

  • Turn it on with PATCH /api/billing/balance {"outcome_pricing": true}. It applies to POST /api/compute/price calls paid from your prepaid balance.
  • Each call is still charged in full, and its response carries an outcome_window with the report request and when the window closes.
  • Report rejected on PATCH /api/usage/events/{id}/outcome within 7 days and 70% of the price comes back to your balance at once. The other 30% is a base fee that is never refunded.
  • No report counts as accepted when the window closes.
  • Agents can report from the MCP server with the new report_outcome tool, and from the LangChain, AI SDK and Agents SDK tool packages.
  • GET /api/outcomes lists open and decided windows, totals and what was refunded.
  • Two new webhook events: usage.outcome_recorded when you report, and outcome.settled when a window is decided.
  • To keep it fair, once 40% of a workspace's decided calls in the last 30 days are rejected, a rejection needs evidence such as an order reference. At 60%, rejections are still recorded but refund nothing.
