Price a tier for customers who bring their own AI

Tell Last Price who pays for model inference. When your customer brings their own AI subscription or key, the model cost drops out of the price, so you can offer a cheaper plan and keep your margin.

More apps now let their users sign in with their own AI subscription or key and pay for the model themselves. Pricing that plan is now one field.

  • Declare your model spend per unit as inference_cost, separately from the rest of your cost.
  • Say who pays with inference_payer: vendor (the default) or customer. When the customer pays, the cost-plus function leaves the model spend out, so the same inputs price both your standard plan and the bring-your-own tier.
  • Route it to a pricing function of its own with a routing policy rule on context.metadata.inference_payer.
  • Every explanation says whether the model cost was included or excluded.
