When a payment times out, your budget stays held until someone checks

A buyer agent whose payment timed out can now report the outcome unknown. The amount stays held against the daily cap and can't be released until someone checks whether the money moved, so a retry can't pay twice.

Sometimes a payment times out and nobody can tell whether the money moved. Releasing its budget then was a guess: if the payment did go through, a retry could pay twice.

  • Report it unknown: the agent calls settle_purchase with outcome unknown. The amount stays held against today's cap, and releasing it is refused.
  • Reconcile from the evidence: once someone has checked the payment record, reconcile_purchase (or the Reconcile button on the Spend Policy page) closes it as paid or not paid, with a note saying what was checked.
  • Only the owner gives budget back: an agent may confirm a payment went through, but only a person or a workspace-wide key can say it did not.
